Job Description

The Joint Secretariat (JS) is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Resource Assistant to support the vital work of our co-management boards, focusing on environmental, wildlife, and ecosystem matters within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region. This multifaceted role provides both administrative and technical support to ensure our commitments under the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA) are met with excellence. 

Preference will be given to beneficiaries of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA). We encourage candidates to self-identify as beneficiaries of the IFA.

FJMC Resource Biologist

Job Description

The Joint Secretariat (JS) and Fisheries Joint Management Committee (FJMC) is looking for an FJMC Resource Biologist to support the work of the organization at our office located in Inuvik, NT.

The FJMC Resource Biologist is responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the FJMC to meet its mandate on all matters related to fisheries and marine mammal policy, research, renewable resource management and conservation, regulation and enforcement. This role works directly with ISR community members, the FJMC, the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, non-government organizations and colleagues within the Joint Secretariat. While it is based in Inuvik, there is travel throughout northern Canada.

Preference will be given to beneficiaries of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA). We encourage candidates to self-identify as beneficiaries of the IFA.

This position is a permanent position working 7.5 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

Marine Protected Area (MPA) Community Liaison

Job Description

The Joint Secretariat (JS) is looking for a Marine Protected Area (MPA) Community Liaison to support the work of the organization at our office located in Inuvik, NT.

The MPA Community Liaison works in conjunction with the MPA Coordinator to facilitate the co-management of existing Oceans Act Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR) and support MPA management plans and monitoring programs. This position is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to ensure the organization meets its obligations and responsibilities to its key stakeholders.

Preference will be given to beneficiaries of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA). We encourage candidates to self-identify as beneficiaries of the IFA.
